The title says it all: highlights of 2005, ladies and gentlemen:
- January, new roommate. Original crazy roommate: Dave, mooch/soda
can thief--left the University. New crazy roommate: Brandon, industrial tech major who got naked to shower at the drop of
a hat, and struck out with drunk chicks. In our room. While I was there. Trying to sleep.
- Broke up with my first ever real-life girlfriend. Stung at the
time, but Kara became one of my best friends ever. She's a great friend, and I discovered that when I'm
not nervous about being a terrible boyfriend, I can be a good friend to her, too.
- Taught in the spring. I got a great class, with a good teacher
to oversee my performance. I really like my chosen profession! Lucky break, there.
- New York for a leadership conference. Hard work, but enjoyable
(if not "fun"). Part of my long, wild ride with UNI's student government.
- Divorce. It was a long, difficult ordeal for my whole family,
and it's still sending shockwaves everywhere when I least expect it.
- Worked at a tough job at Mycogen Seed. Big, heavy bags
of corn seed, and poisonous red dust. I've still got my hard hat. Good work & good money. They say I'm welcome back next
summer--maybe I'll find an office job, instead.
- Was visited by Kara & Sarah in my hometown, and they got stuck in
a ditch on a gravel road on the way. Thank goodness for large, gruff men, right girls?
- Visited Rachel, and met her in person for the first time. We got
along famously! She's a wonderful girl, and so good to have in my life. A side-note: I changed from a suspected
rapist to a good boy in her folks' eyes. Congratulations to me!
- Moved to a new house. This happened while I was visiting Rachel, but
the new house is a hell of a lot better than the old one. Renovations by my mother and brother continue, while I'm at school.
- Third crazy roommate, Min: from The Good Korea (South), is constantly
cold (even in 80 degree weather), was a disgusting slob, and was never around me in private or public if he could help it.
- Became NCC (National Communications Chair) for UNI. Hard work,
and I have my qualms about the importance of this whole system, but it's a prestigious honor.
- Started a Dungeons & Dragons group with my old friends Jacob,
Garrett, and Dave, and my new friend Curt. I can proudly say that I am the Dungeon Master.
- Began working out with Kara. First time I've gone to the gym for
that--ever.
- Completed another semester at UNI. Four 'A's & a C+
in Ed. Media (a horrible class).
- Min left--for good, I hope. I signed up to have the room to myself
next semester, and have rearranged the furniture accordingly.
- Rachel visited me in Iowa. This trip was awesome! So little time,
but we did so much! I love that girl.
