Four Thoughts of a Broken Heart

Do you remember what it was to fear your feelings?
Do you remember what it was to question your very soul?
No courage to a coward.
No answers to an ass.
Weep until no tears will come;
you are forsaken by certainty.
You cannot stand fast,
you cannot stand true,
you cannot stand,
     divided against yourself.
No island, no bastion, no light in darkness, you.

The irony that two people can rarely ever want one another at the same time does not escape me.

Like a boat with only one oar, I turn in circles of loneliness.

Why o why o why o why?
Alight on me, hope,
else I stand alone.
"Just friends" can't save souls.

Is it better to open your heart and be thought a fool than to shut it and remove all doubt?
